How Can I Combat Seasonal Depression?
As we inch closer to the end of the year, a few important changes are happening, starting with the end of daylight savings. Everyone (including myself) may have enjoyed the extra hour of sleep this past weekend, but the end of daylight savings can also bring about some sadness. Seasonal affective disorder, also known as seasonal depression, can unfortunately affect anyone and is often triggered once the days become shorter. The cause for seasonal depression is unknown but is thought to be tied to hormonal imbalances.
I am assuming you’re ready for me to get to the point…fortunately there are several ways to combat those feelings of sadness which include establishing healthy sleep and eating habits, stress management, and exercising regularly.
